October Newsletter 🎃

October Newsletter 🎃

Happy October! It’s hard to believe we are already moving into our third month of school. September was filled with learning, teamwork, and community building, and I am so proud of how our class has settled into fourth grade routines. I’d like to share a few highlights of what’s ahead this month.

Our 4th grade canned food drive is in full swing! The students set a goal of collecting 100 cans by October 10th, and they are excited to work together toward reaching it. Thank you so much for your support in helping us make a difference for our community.

In literacy, we are wrapping up our very first iReady unit. To close the unit, students will participate in a one-week mini-unit on writing personal narratives. The theme is “facing challenges,” and students will have the opportunity to reflect on and share their own stories of perseverance. This is always a powerful way for them to connect their learning to their own lives.

In math, we are beginning to dive into multiplication. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be exploring multiplicative comparisons in Unit 4 and then moving into numbers and number patterns in Unit 5. These units will strengthen students’ understanding of multiplication and prepare them for the more complex problem-solving we’ll tackle come November.

It’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting month! Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your wonderful children with me each day. I’m looking forward to all the growth and learning October will bring.

Warmly,
Ms. Sparks
